HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
This training provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
The training applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) recommends HLTAID004 as satisfying all educator requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training. The training is useful for parents, carers, babysitters or other people who may frequently have children or babies in their care
What are entry requirements for first aid course?
There is no prerequisite for this unit, however, training packages describe the candidates must have Foundation Skills (language, literacy and numeracy) that are essential to perform oral communication in order to make an accurate verbal report to emergency response services and workplace supervisor.

What will I achieve after completion of course?
The HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting unit of competency is derived from the HLT Health Training Package and is accepted by ACECQA as an industry standard first aid qualification.
On successful completion of this training program, a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting will be issued to the participants. Students will receive their Statement of Attainment within five working days from the date of completion of the course through the express post. Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines indicate that a (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) CPR qualification should be renewed every 12 months and that a First Aid qualification should be renewed every 3 years.
What is the duration of first aid Course?
2 days (Total of at least fifteen hours: Comprising 1 day (almost 6 – 8 hours) self-study and pre-assessment; and Day-2 (Seven Hours) classroom-based practical training, theory and practical assessment).
What competencies will I achieve?
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Evaluate the incident and own performance
What would be the assessment methods & procedure?
First aid course requires the pre-study by all the participants. The students can choose one of the two options to complete the pre-study course.
Paper-based workbook – this option is suitable for those students who do not have access to a computer or are not comfortable to use a computer.
The students who prefer paper-based workbook and manual can enrol into the course, once enrolled students can receive their workbook and manual through post or can pick from our office; or
The student can receive the manual and workbook through email, print it, complete and bring on the day of classroom based training. The workbook has 56 multiple choice and true and false questions.
E-book – This option is suitable for those students who have access to and are comfortable in use of the computer.
Once you enrolled and paid, you will receive an email with your login and password which will give you access to the e-book, you will be able to complete your pre=study workbook online.
Once completed students will be able to print their certificate and will need to bring on the day of classroom based training.

Is there any dress code?
Due to nature of course with a plenty of practical exercises the participants are advised to wear casual comfortable attire. Skirts or dresses are not considered appropriate
